Do you want to help solve one of the world's biggest crises – the nature crisis? Are you motivated to become part of an impact-driven global NGO that works nationally and internationally to save nature? Are you passionate and knowledgeable about biodiversity, sustainability, and policy advocacy? If so, WWF Denmark is looking for you.

We are looking for a committed and competent colleague who can lead our international policy efforts on offshore wind and biodiversity. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a sustainable offshore wind development and positively impact biodiversity.

WWF is international conservation organization that works to halt and reverse the global biodiversity loss by 2030 and at the same time address the global climate crisis. The WWF network supports renewable energy development, including offshore wind as it has a huge potential for addressing the climate crisis, but there is a risk that the immense build out will negatively impact biodiversity - if not planned and executed in a nature friendly manner.

The International Policy Lead position plays a key role in WWF Denmark’s work to promote responsible and sustainable offshore wind development globally and will work with an interdisciplinary team in Denmark and in the global WWF network to develop and implement policy strategies and efforts.

Responsibilities

Coordinate strategic thinking on policy positions to ensure we are advocating effectively, by:

• Leading development and implementation of WWF Denmark’s policy strategies for promoting responsible and sustainable offshore wind globally amongst key stakeholders, including governments and the private sector.

• Leading WWF Denmark’s engagement in the global WWF network on offshore wind and biodiversity.

Practically ensure that our messaging is to the point and effectively disseminated, by:

• Forming a part of the WWF DK team working with our partner Ørsted, and specifically contribute with development of shared policy messages and joint outreach to target audiences at e.g. events, conferences and in the media.

• Working with communication specialists to plan for and develop public-facing media and messaging on responsible and sustainable offshore wind development.

• Strategically guide and support WWF DK’s engagement in global conventions and events, by developing key policy messaging and organizing side events, etc.

Build capacity in our local offices across the globe, by:

• Advising and supporting relevant WWF country offices on national-level policy positions and messaging.

The International Policy Lead position will sit within WWF DK’s Business Transformation and Footprint Department and you will report to the Director of the department. On a day-to-day basis, you will be working closely with the Ørsted Programme Manager who leads the Ørsted partnership team.

Your qualifications:

• A master’s degree in political science, environmental policy, business or related field.

• Solid professional experience in related policy role.

• Experience with international policy work.

• Project management experience, including effectively coordinating the work of others.

• Analytical approach and mind-set.

• Experience working with governments and partners.

• Demonstrated relationship building and strong facilitation skills with the ability to navigate among multiple stakeholders.

• Proven written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English.

• A strong team-player who prefers to work collaboratively across seniority, professional backgrounds, geographies, and cultures to improve decisions, strengthen commitment, and deliver effective results.

We offer you:

• An opportunity to be part of the world's leading nature conservation organization.

• Have an international, inspiring and innovative working environment every day.

• A strong team who cannot wait to welcome you!

The place of work is Svanevej 12, 2400 Copenhagen NV. The position may require some international travel, and the position is to be filled as soon as possible.
